Civil rights & civil liberties

1. WWII changed America by changing their ideas on individual liberty and government power. The war widened America's ideas.

2. According to Joan Biskupic the main tensions that existed during Andy after the war are civil rights, national security, national identity, free speech, and individual rights.

3. Biskupic meant that a lot of times to get things accomplished, our courts have to back track and change legislature and such before they can move forward and make change.

RIGHTS ARE RELATIVE AND NOT ABSOLUTE:
This means that people have the right to do what they want as long as it doesn't infringe on other people's rights around them. An example of this is: praying in a classroom. You are practicing your religion in a place that a nonbeliever could get away from it.
